There are very many viewers and
browsers which display previews of EPS files. However among
them practically there are no applications which display
previews of all EPS files. To our regret, it relate and
to ST Thumbnails Explorer (STTEX) v1.2.2260.
It has very simple explanation. An EPS files contain actually encapsulated postscript and may
contain some preview. The previews are displayed by viewers with that or other success
(these previews in themselves may have various formats: WMF, various types TIFF and PICT).
However the preview in a file may and to not be! In
this case the viewers don't show anything (or show simply an
icon).
Certainly having Adobe Ilustrator (or other
products which may import these files and write them with
screen preview) to these files may be added previews. However
many individuals and companies has accumulated very a lot EPS
files without previews and to convert them manually is very
toilfully.
Now we offer a partial palliative solution
of the problem at least for those who has Illustrator 10+. This
is batch script-converter which is named ST EPS Converter
v1.3 (freeware). Its usage does not required any
registration. You may download (the archive staddepspreview.zip,
106 KB) and try out it right now.
Note.
•.Since the version 1.2.2150, ST Thumbnails Explorer
shows the majority of types pixel-based EPS (for example, Adobe Photoshop EPS) without built-in previews or thumbnails.
• STTEX v1.2.2260 shows all [uncorrupted] EPS files if Ghostscript 7.0+ is installed.
• In STTEX v1.5 Beta several bugs in EPS filter have been fixed.
•.This script works properly with Adobe Illustrator 10-13(CS3). Therefore it can be used on all platforms supported by Adobe Illustrator 10+
(for example, Apple Macintosh or UNIX).
•.ST EPS Converter can be used for conversion of any files to EPS files with built-in previews.
Of course, if these files may be opened in Adobe Illustrator.
•.You can use a similar script ST AI Converter
for conversion of any files to AI files with built-in thumbnails.
